Optional curricular components are offered to ensure flexibility in the student's education, complementing the mandatory subjects of the course.
The course features state-of-the-art laboratories and a clinic with individual equipment, once again guaranteeing practical experience as an essential part of the training of dental professionals from their first year as students.
Academic experience is also strongly encouraged, with support from PhD professors as well as the Scientific Initiation Program itself, which, through agreements with national and international institutions, allows for the development of extension projects and the expansion of knowledge.
Thus, aligned with national curriculum guidelines, recognized by the MEC (Brazilian Ministry of Education), and with the distinction of having a proposal based on continuous investment in training, the undergraduate Dentistry course at Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic is the most innovative and comprehensive in the field of Dentistry in all of Brazil.

Part of MANDIC involves practical experience from the first semester of the course, in highly equipped laboratories that allow for simulation training to increase student confidence and reduce the number of errors in real-life situations, in contact with patients in Basic Health Units and Affiliated Hospitals, in encouraging research through a scientific initiation program, and in developing autonomy and critical and reflective learning.
In order to promote and anticipate interaction between students and patients, from the first month of classes, SLMANDIC has a complex of hospitals and health units available to its students.
There are more than 2,300 beds in the following hospitals: Mayor Edvaldo Orsi Hospital Complex (Ouro Verde); Dr. Mário Gatti Municipal Hospital; Campinas Maternity Hospital; Beneficência Portuguesa Hospital of Campinas; Campinas Health Center; Vera Cruz Hospital of Campinas; Americana Municipal Hospital; Piracicaba Sugarcane Suppliers Hospital; Teaching Hospital: Santa Bárbara Hospital (SLMANDIC teaching hospital); Edson Mano Municipal Emergency Room and Dr. Alberto Finamore Medical Specialty Center in Santa Bárbara D'Oeste; Valinhos Santa Casa, Primary Health Care Unit and Psychosocial Care Reference Center (CREAPS) and Psychosocial Care Center of Valinhos; Primary Health Care Unit and Medical Center of Vinhedo; Sorocaba Santa Casa (with the implementation of the SLMANDIC/Santa Casa de Sorocaba Study Center); Women's Specialty Center and Excellence Base in Sumaré; Itatiba Santa Casa; UBS Zizi Junqueira (the largest Basic Health Unit – UBS) in the Campinas region, with 25 consulting rooms, study rooms and an auditorium for 100 people; and more than 25 UBS in Campinas and the region; UPA Carlos Lourenço; UPA Campo Grande in Campinas; UPA Jardim Macarenko in Sumaré; MedMandic Clinic (the teaching clinic of SLMANDIC), among others.
This extensive and diverse healthcare network guarantees that students of the SLMANDIC Medical Course are immersed in different practice and learning scenarios, allowing for rich teaching and learning experiences at various levels of care (primary, secondary, and tertiary) and social contexts (public, private, philanthropic). It is worth highlighting that all activities are always accompanied and guided by SLMANDIC faculty and preceptors who receive ongoing training and development.
This space was designed for training in medical interviews, healthcare, urgent and emergency care, and surgical procedures, and features different scenarios: a doctor's office, a ward, an emergency room, a surgical center, and an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). It also has two rooms that simulate a hospital environment and a room with mirrored windows for instructor observation.
To further enhance practical experience, even during undergraduate studies, this environment at the Institution features state-of-the-art robots – simulating adult patients, children, adolescents, pregnant women, newborns, and others. HD cameras and audio and video recording systems are integrated by software capable of displaying, on a single screen, the recorded scene and the parameters of the robot-patient, facilitating a detailed and rich discussion of the clinical case between students and professors. It is worth noting that these activities are always carried out in small groups so that everyone can participate actively.
The intention is to use laboratory technology and realistic simulation methodology to make the course more interesting and dynamic, preparing students for the challenges of professional life from their first year. In these laboratories, students will simulate the main emergency situations that every doctor must know. This way, when faced with real patient situations, they will already be trained and familiar with them.
We are proud to state that MANDIC boasts the most complete and modern Surgical Techniques Laboratory in the country. The space is designed for performing surgical procedures on animals and also for training on high-fidelity models. It is divided into a Dry Lab, for exclusive use with models, offering realistic simulation for video-assisted surgeries, and a Wet Lab. There are 16 surgical positions, all equipped with gas and vacuum systems, multiparameter monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and an electrosurgical unit. And it doesn't stop there: the facility also has a tower and 3 video-assisted surgery simulators, as well as a robotic surgery simulator and virtual reality glasses for surgical training and the study of human anatomy.
In the anatomy labs, studies are conducted through traditional teaching methods, using cadavers, and also digital teaching, with the support of technology. In the latter case, each dissection table has a TV monitor that allows the teacher to simultaneously transmit, directing the students, the specimen being studied, as well as interactive content from the computer or a virtual dissection table. Real and virtual anatomical models are also used, allowing a three-dimensional and multi-layered view of each organ and limb of the human body, as well as simulating their functions. The teaching of imaging is integrated with that of anatomy, with the development of joint activities in these labs.
Currently, Mandic does not have agreements to offer scholarships from PROUNI, FIES, or similar programs.
